This Week at the Springdale Public Library

PRESCHOOL STORY TIME 
Preschoolers, ages 3-5, are invited to Preschool Story Time at the Springdale Public Library on Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., January 6 through February 25. 
 
Preschool Story Time is the place where children can enjoy books, songs, puppets, fingerplays, and rhythm and movement activities.
 
On Tuesday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 28, the Preschool Story Time theme is “Winnie the Pooh, Corduroy Bear and Friends.”  After reading the books Pooh, the Giving Bear by Cassandra Case and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin, children will make a bear with a honey jar to take home.  
 
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
 Afterschoolers (ages 6 – 9) are invited to After School Programs at the Springdale Public Library on Tuesdays, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., January 6 through February 24.  These fun-filled programs feature stories, songs, activities, and crafts.  Children of all abilities are welcome.
 
The winter program theme is “Oh, the Places We’ll Go!”  On Tuesday, January 27, children use their imaginations to share stories like Imagine a Day by Sarah L. Thomsom, Henry’s Amazing Imagination by Nancy Carlson and Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.  After singing the song “Creatures of the Imagination” and playing the game “Do the Dragon Dance”, children will make a dragon puppet craft to take home.  

LAP SIT AND TODDLER TIME
Lap Sit at the Springdale Public Library is designed for babies (birth through pre-walkers) and their caregivers.  Adults will learn various activities to share with their babies including action rhymes and lullabies.  Lap Sit will be held on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m., January 7 through February 25.  
 
The next Lap Sit program is on Wednesday, January 28.  

Toddler Time at the Springdale Public Library is designed for children who are walkers through age three, and is held on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m., January 7 through February 25.   This program is a great way for caregivers to introduce toddlers to the Library through stories, songs and rhymes. 
 
The next Toddler Time programs in on Wednesday, January 28.  

SPANISH STORY TIME FOR FAMILIES
Spanish Story Time for Families presented primarily in Spanish, but does include bilingual materials as well.  It’s a great time for bilingual families to enjoy stories, songs, puppets and fingerplays.  A simple craft project follows each program.  The programs are presented on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., January 8 through February 19.
 
The next Spanish Story Time for Families programs – Q is for Quirquincho / El Quirquincho – will be held on Thursday, January 29.
