Thursday

Enjoy First Thursday Fayetteville on the Square

New art exhibit openings and receptions hosted by ddp gallery and The Fayetteville Underground will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010. Additional activities include I.M. Spa hosting an art reception for Angela Peach Photography, and Sound Warehouse will be hosting “The Flatland Travelers” from Norman, Oklahoma at 6:30.

To ease parking needs, the paid parking lot next to the East Square Plaza building (to the east) will be open for FREE parking on Thursday night. Also there are two large city lots that are free parking after 5 pm. These lots are located to the west of Block Avenue between Mountain and Meadow.

Saturday Day

Looking to get your little ones out of the house this weekend? In their pajamas? Buy One Ticket and Get One Free to Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny at Walton Arts Center. Experience the magic of live theater with this adaptation of two bedtime classics, presented by the Mermaid Theater of Nova Scotia. Best for ages 2-7. Saturday, Feb. 6, 11am & 3pm. To celebrate the spirit of goodnight rituals, Walton Arts Center encourages children to come to the performance wearing their favorite pajamas! The Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter (NWAWS) will also be hosting a clothing drive at the performance. Click here to find out what you can do to help.

Saturday Night

See the NWA Roller Derby at Starlight Skatium. Backwoods Betties vs MoKan Roller Girls on Saturday, February 6 at 7pm. The last match sold out, so get your tickets in advance. Tickets for this upcoming event can be purchased at Starlight Skatium during normal business hours and online. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door; Kids 12 and under are free with paid adult.

Looking Ahead

  • Sign your child up for drama classes at Arts Live Theatre in Fayetteville or the Trike Theatre in Bentonville.
  • If you plan to attend the Valentine’s Day party for children and families at the Fayetteville Public Library, you may want to go ahead and register by calling the Children’s Desk at 479-856-7170(the free event is Sunday, February 14 at 2pm)
  • Walton Arts Center’s Art of Wine Festival is fabulous. But, many of the popular events sell out, so if you plan to attend, you better make plans now
