There’s Lots Going on Next Week at the Springdale Public Library!

PRESCHOOL STORY TIME
 
Preschoolers, ages 3-5, are invited to Preschool Story Time at the Springdale Public Library on Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., January 6 through February 25. 
 
Preschool Story Time is the place where children can enjoy books, songs, puppets, fingerplays, and rhythm and movement activities.
 
On Tuesday, January 13, and Wednesday, January 14, the Preschool Story Time theme is “Clifford, Spot and Dot the Firedog.”  After reading the books, Clifford the Firehouse Dog  by Norman Bridwell, and Dot the Firedog by Lisa Desimini, children will sing the song “Where, Oh Where has my little dog gone?” and make a Dalmatian puppy puppet to take home.  For more information, contact 479-750-8180.
 
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
 
Afterschoolers (ages 6 – 9) are invited to After School Programs at the Springdale Public Library on Tuesdays, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., January 6 through February 24.  These fun-filled programs feature stories, songs, activities, and crafts.  Children of all abilities are welcome.
 
The winter program theme is “Oh, the Places We’ll Go!”  On Tuesday, January 13, children will journey to places “in their own backyards.”  After sharing the books Firefighters to the Rescue! By Kersten Hamilton and “You Can’t Take a Balloon into the National Gallery” by Jacqueline Weitzman, children will play a make-believe rescue game and make their own fire truck to take home.  For more information, contact 479-750-8180.
 
CONVERSATION CLUB
 
Join the Springdale Public Library’s Conversation Club to hone your Spanish skills and help Spanish speakers learn English!  The Club meets for six weeks each quarter.  The remaining programs for this quarter are January 13 and 20 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. 
 
The Club allows participants to practice their English or Spanish speaking skills with native speakers in a relaxed atmosphere.  The programs are free and registration is not required.  For more information, call the Library at 479-750-8180 or email vpereira@springdalelibrary.org
 
LAP SIT AND TODDLER TIME
 
Lap Sit at the Springdale Public Library is designed for babies (birth through pre-walkers) and their caregivers.  Adults will learn various activities to share with their babies including action rhymes and lullabies.  Lap Sit will be held on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m., January 7 through February 25.

Toddler Time at the Springdale Public Library is designed for children who are walkers through age three, and is held on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m., January 7 through February 25.   This program is a great way for caregivers to introduce toddlers to the Library through stories, songs and rhymes.

SPANISH STORY TIME FOR FAMILIES

 
Spanish Story Time for Families presented primarily in Spanish, but does include bilingual materials as well.  It’s a great time for bilingual families to enjoy stories, songs, puppets and fingerplays.  A simple craft project follows each program.  The programs are presented on Thursdays at 4:00 p.m., January 8 through February 19.
 
The next Spanish Story Time for Families programs – L is for Lion the King / L es para el Rey Leon – will be held on Thursday, January 15.  For more information, contact 750-8180.
 
FIRE SAFETY WITH THE SPRINGDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT
 
The Springdale Fire Department will present a fun fire safety program at the Springdale Public Library on Saturday, January 17, 11:00 until noon.  Join our local firemen as they share safety tips and demonstrate ways to keep your family safe.  The program is free and registration is not required.  For more information, contact 750-8180.
