“Take Your Kids to Dickson”, an event designed to promote and enhance the family-friendly atmosphere of the Dickson Street area, will be held on Saturday, June 13 from 3 to 9 pm. Local talent and businesses are partnering to present an exciting day of activities for the whole family.
The fun starts around 3 pm, directly following the Spencer’s Theatre of Illusion show at the Walton Arts Center. Local bands will provide live music in the Rose Garden, plus there will be entertainers, street performers, craft and activity zones and much more. In addition, children that participate in the “Tot Walk” from 3-7 pm will get free samples and gifts from selected Dickson Street businesses, and receive a prize bag when they complete the Walk. The prize bag, a reusable shopping bag, will include coupon books for both children and adults, as well as other gifts and donated items.

Organizers of this event are local residents that enjoy the Dickson Street area, and wish to encourage others in the region to explore the unique, family-friendly atmosphere that exists on this historic street. Their goals are to increase public awareness of the variety of businesses and events on and near Dickson Street, and to give families with children an opportunity to experience the area with an event geared towards children and families.
Area residents that do not have children can still enjoy the festivities. Many businesses will be offering discounts and specials during the event, and the music and entertainment provided throughout the day is certain to appeal to a large variety of tastes.
