Alannah asks:
Where can I go for simple mending or tailoring? Who is reasonably priced and good? I have a pile of skirts and pants needing to be re-hemmed and zippers replaced, etc.
Any suggestions? If so, please add them to the comments or email me directly.

Got something to say?

I use a lady name Fran near the Bentonville High School. She takes about a week to complete stuff but she is great. Most Cleaners contract her out and every time I have been there she has had wedding dresses etc. I am like you needing zippers, buttons or basic hemming. She is very reasonable! Her number is 479-696-9413.
Another reader recommends Shirley’s Alterations in Springdale. “great results and terrifically inexpensive as well!”

I use a place in Rogers called The Lethal Lure. They do all the alterations for Mason’s. The place is a little on the scary side, but they are really good, very reasonable, and FAST. I’ve had a pair of jeans done in 15 minutes before!
The phone number is 621-0500.
Here’s a reader suggestion:
From my experience, for simple mendings, like zipper fixing, hemming a skirt, or having my husband’s too long shirttail cut short, we usually bring the clothes to our dry cleaner (we use Ozark drycleaners on block st., but most dry cleaners have this simple tailoring/mending service.) they do a really good job so far.
But, for a more serious job, like, hemming your fancy $ designer jeans, I usually bring it to masons or go to masons and ask the sales girl there for the tailor’s phone number this has worked for me before. (wished I had the tailor’s phone number still, but it has been a while, so I lost it.)
Amanda is an All Sides of Life reader and a tailor. Here’s her info:
Hello, My name is Amanda. I’ve been a seamstress for nearly 20 years… Please feel free to call at 442-4903 . Thank you
From another All Sides of Life reader:
There is a wonderful tailor in the Northwest Arkansas Mall. Her shop is called Sofia’s Tailor Shop and the phone number is 479-443-4649. She altered my bridesmaid’s dress for my brother’s wedding a couple of years ago and added straps to it - per the bride’s request. I was one of the only people whose straps did not fall off. I highly recommend her.
Her shop is located down one of the aisles in the mall, close to where all those quilts are hanging or used to be hanging on the wall. I don’t live in Fay. anymore so am not sure if they are still there.
She is very busy so you need to bring items to her well before you need to wear them for an occasion.
