Reader Poll: Baby’s First Haircut

I received a reader question from Lindsay asking for recommendations on the best place to get a child’s hair cut in Northwest Arkansas.  Specifically:

I have a 14 1/2 month old who needs his FIRST haircut. I of course think this is a monumental occasion, so I want to take him somewhere that will A) do a good job B) be comfortable and fun for him and C) won’t mind me taking lots of pictures and making a big deal out of it! The problem is, I have no idea where to go!

My stylist doesn’t do kids hair but she said she heard of a place–she thought in Bentonville–that caters to small children. They give a certificate for the first haircut and the chairs are animal shaped. It sounds like the perfect place, I just have no idea what it’s called or where it is! The phone book was no help at all. So, I thought maybe you could poll the moms of NWA and see where is the best place to get a child’s hair cut????

Those who know me and my children realize that haircutting is not given the priority it deserves in my house — in fact, my mother always gets my boys haircuts when she comes to visit!

So, I am asking my readers for recommendations.  Click here to leave a recommendation in the comments or email me directly at allsidesoflife@gmail.com

I tried to locate the place that she mentioned but had no luck. We ended doing Sports Clips because it is a place where there are TV’s playing and you can be pretty loud. One lady blew bubbles and entertained our child while the other cut the hair. We were very happy.

I think Lindsey was referring to Snip-its, but we don’t have one in Arkansas. There is one near St. Louis, and there are two in OK City, but alas, none here in AR. I’d LOVE it if they opened one!!! Hmmm, maybe I should…I talked to the BBV Chamber, and they haven’t heard of anything like that.

Thanks for posting the info about Snip-its. Sounds like a great place–too bad we don’t have one! At least I know I’m not missing out on a great place.

I lucked out yesterday and found Kutting Krew in Farmington. It is very kid-friendly and Ms. Heather was so VERY patient with my squirmy two-yr olds first haircut. The salon has a table with crayons and a little kitchen along with other toys. The big winner is the Airplane Chair for the kids to sit in (she also has a Princess chair). Ms. Heather’s patience and good nature are just the thing to set a parents mind at ease, not to mention the price was very budget-friendly. I HIGHLY reccommend this salon!

I know this posting is a little late but this is a great little place in Little Rock which is a drive from NW but it is worth it.
