Girlfriend Gifts (Sorry Dads): Life+Kids Holiday Personal Shopper Series

Life+Kids Reader Dee writes:

Every year I go to a “favorite things” party with some friends our age [ed. note, by that she means over 30 . . . we'll leave it at that.]. We are told to take one gift that costs under $10. I have yet to stay within that limit. Please help!

I attend the same type party, but our budget is a bit bigger — $20. It is amazing what a difference those $10 can make! I found a beautiful glass ring last year that was a big hit. But, keeping my recommendations in the $10ish range, here are my suggestions.

Uncommon Goods is the online store of choice because they have unique gifts at excellent prices:

Sassy Luggage Tags from Uncommon Goods ($10 for a set of 6)

I love these luggage tags with messages like “careful: my shoes are inside,” and “I’m pretty sure this isn’t your bag.” Beats the red ribbon I attach to my suitcase. Click on the image to buy these at Uncommon Goods.

Porn For Women ($12.00)

Don’t worry, this book contains no nudity. Instead, it offers clever descriptions like “She walked through the front door and stopped dead in her tracks, overcome with desire. There he was – shirtless, his muscles flexing as he vacuumed the carpet…and she hadn’t even asked him to.” Sure to get a giggle from any woman who receives it. 101 Things You Should Know ($8.00)

Because you really should know, you know? This handy guide explains how to do 101 things that everyone should know, but many of us don’t. The tips cover a wide range of topics from how to unclog a backed-up sink to chopping an onion without crying, building a campfire to treating a hangover, making a memorable toast to avoiding jet lag. I need this.  Click on the image to purchase from Uncommon Goods.

Readers, what are your suggestions for good gifts for women in the $10 range? Leave your posts in the comments or email me at terri@lifepluskids.com.
