I am on the board of TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ local professional theater company. I wanted to let you know about a great family event we are planning for opening night of TheatreSquared’s upcoming production of the Jungal Book.
If you are not familiar with this adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s the Jungle Books, here is a synopsis:
The jungle is a dangerous place, especially for man. But for Mowgli the mancub, the jungle is a playground…literally. In this modern re-telling of a classic tale, Mowgli has been raised by a pack of wolves & learns the laws of the jungle from the wise bear, Baloo. Through his coming of age, the audience is taken on a heartwarming & thought-provoking journey that explores environmental issues as well as themes of tolerance, adversity & ultimately, belonging. This is a perfect play for TheatreSquared’s youngest audiences!
The family event starts at 4:30 pm on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the Nadine Baum Studios. The jungle themed festivities will include a picnic dinner and activity stations such as art, stage combat, henna tattoos, and warrior face painting. Drummers and giant puppets will lead a procession into the theater where guests will enjoy the opening night performance of the Jungal Book. After the show, guests will be able meet the actors and learn more about the production.
The night will also include a raffle of jungle related items such as Baloo reading to your child’s classroom next fall, and a night in the tree house or bungalow at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge.
ADVANCE TICKETS REQUIRED: Tickets to the opening night festivities are $25 per person The tickets include dinner and tickets to the show (lap babies free). If any of you are interested in attending this event, please email me at allsidesoflife@gmail.com or contact TheatreSquared directly at 445-6333 or morgan@theatresquared.org. The theater only seats 150, so reserve soon!
I know many families are traveling this time of year. If you cannot join us (or even if you can), please forward this to other families who might be interested in attending the event.

Got something to say?

This sounds super fun! Sadly, we’ll be out of town and unable to attend. I’ll spread the word, though.
I recently saw “One Man Star Wars” in the Studio Theater and was really impressed by the actual theater. Very comfortable and intimate! Jungalbook would be awesome in that venue!
