Currently, Fayetteville elementary school students have one fifteen minute recess each day, and PE twice a week.  Local parents Dan and Julia Kennefick believe the school day should include more recess time, and have started a group called Fair Play for Recess to bring awareness to the issue.

Wehn I was growing up in California, we all had one hour every school day of physical activity. This allowed us to develop the habit of regular exercise, and many of us kept it all our lives. 15 minutes a day isn’t even enough for the kids to get their wiggles out, let alone get the benefits of regular exercise.

Got something to say?
