The Fayetteville Public Library will host Friday Morning Movies as part of its Summer Reading Club activities. The screenings are open to all children and families
Movies will be shown each Friday at 10 a.m. in the library’s Walker Community Room.
Next in the series is Charlotte’s Web (Rated G) on Friday, June 27.
The screenings are open to children and families. Students can sign up for the Summer Reading Club at the Children’s Desk or at www.faylib.org. For more information, call the Children’s Library at 571.2222 x 4370.
Grasshopper Catches a Ride at the Fayetteville Public Library

Sing, dance, hear stories and help illustrate the newest children’s book Just the Way We Are by the husband-and-wife duo of Jeremy Hess and Peggy Treiber.
This family event is part of the Fayetteville Public Library’s summer programing. Everyone is welcome.

Color Burst at Crystal Bridges at the Massey

The fresh fruit and vegetables at the Farmers Market are bursting with color! The works of art on view in the Reconstructing Art Walk exhibition at Crystal Bridges at the Massey are, too! Observe how the artists use color to describe, to communicate and to beautify the stories they tell through their art. Then get into the act by making your own Color Burst Fruit & Veggie Portrait Painting.
No registration necessary. This is a free drop-in program for children ages 5 – 12 and their adult partners.

Blues Musician Tas Cru (for preschoolers) at the Fayetteville Public Library

Legendary New York blues musician Tas Cru will visit the Fayetteville Public Library for three performances as part of the library’s Summer Reading Club activities.
Cru will perform the blues to Eric Carle books for preschoolers on Tuesday, June 10 at 10:30 & 11 a.m. in the Walker Community Room.
On Tuesday, June 10 at 6 p.m., Cru will teach teens to sing and play the blues. The event will be in the Walker Community Room.
Cru’s final performance at the library will be for elementary age students on Wednesday, June 11 at 1 & 2 p.m. in the Walker Community Room.
Bug Bonanza at the Fayetteville Public Library

Listen to creepy, crawly bug stories followed by face painting and a bug hunt, and see real bees in a beehive!
The Summer Reading Club at the Fayetteville Public Library will kick off Saturday, June 7, 2008 with events for preschool age through 12th grade.
- At 10:30 a.m., beekeeper David Cheek will bring an observation bee hive to show students in preschool through 5th grade. The event will also include face painting, bug balloons and bug stories.
- Magician Jody Birchfield will perform and teach magic tricks to students in 6th through 12th grade beginning at 2 p.m.
Children can sign up for Summer Reading Club at the Children’s Desk or at ww.faylib.org. There is no sign up required for preschoolers and listeners.

Ozark Demolition Derby in Springdale

You know your kids would love it . . .
The Demolition Derby at Parsons Stadium in Springdale will be held on May 17, 2008 Participants from the four state area participate in this annual event for cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights.
Although the premise seems simple, the drivers must adhere to the rules of preparation of the cars and rules of engagement. The last three cars running in each of the four heats will compete in the final heat. The last one remaining in the championship heat will be declared the winner and will be awarded first place money of $3,000.00.
Tickets for the event are on sale at Parsons Stadium office on the grounds at Highway 265 and Emma Avenue in Springdale or by calling 479-927-4530 or toll free at 1-877-927-6336. $10.00 for Adults, $5.00 for children (ages 2-12) and $12.00 for Buckle Club Seating. Tickets will also be available at the gate beginning at 6:00 p.m. on May 17th.
Family Fun Zone & Outdoor Show at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers

If you or your children like fishing, you will not want to miss the Free Family Fun Zone & Outdoor Show at the John Q Hammons Center in Rogers from noon to 6pm on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday May 18. The show is held in connection with the Wal-Mart Open, a professional fishing tournament on the Wal-Mart FLW Tour.
The Family Fun Zone offers giveaways, fishing themed games and rides like the Ranger Boat simulator. Children 14 and under visiting the Family Fun Zone on Sunday will receive a free rod and reel combo (while supplies last).
The weigh-in for the Wal-Mart Open tournament (which could be fun to see) will be held at 4pm both Saturday and Sunday. And, if you feel lucky, be there for the final 4 p.m. weigh-in Sunday — you could win a new Ranger boat!

Join Diego, Nickelodeon’s adventure hero, as he returns to swing into action in his live show, GO, DIEGO, GO LIVE! THE GREAT JAGUAR RESCUE! Diego, along with his sister Alicia, and cousin, Dora the Explorer, are off on an action packed special mission to get Baby Jaguar’s growl back from the Bobo Brothers. They’ll need the audience’s help to rescue animals, navigate through the rainforest, and bypass a giant waterfall to get to the Animal Carnivale. ¡Al rescate, amigos! To the rescue, my friends!

Grease by Arts Live Theatre

Arts Live Theatre is presenting GreaseMay 9-11, 2008 at the University of Arkansas Continuing Education Center on the square in Fayetteville.
Arts Live uses local youth actors in its productions and offers excellent youth acting classes throughout the year. If you have a drama queen (or king) in your family, you definately need to know about Arts Live.

Stephanie Greene, author of numerous children’s books will be at the Jones Center on Thursday, May 8 for a special presentation for children and families.
Stephanie will be available to sign her books immediately following the presentation. Book titles for sale on this evening are:
