Benjamin Franklin Exhibit At The Springdale Public Library

The Springdale Public Library is hosting a traveling panel exhibit that is part of the major exhibit Ben Franklin: In Search of a Better World.
The exhibit tells the remarkable story of the man who began his life as a poor printer’s apprentice and ended it as a revered elder statesmen known throughout the world for his wisdom, wit, and resourcefulness. Benjamin Franklin’s achievements in diplomacy, science, philanthropy and other fields profoundly influenced the path of a new nation and continue to inspire us more than three hundred years after his birth. Photographs of handwritten and printed documents, objects owned by Franklin, maps, paintings and drawings provide a colorful background for Franklin’s story.
The exhibit runs through March 28, 2008 and includes several related events for children and families:
Preschool Storytime: Tuesday and Wednesday, February 26 and 27
Pre-Schoolers ages 3 to 5 are invited to join Miss Judy at the Springdale Public Library on Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. This winter’s program theme is Lessons Learned from Ben Franklin.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, February 26 and 27, children will hear stories about what Ben Franklin thought happiness was. Pre-school Story Time gives children and their caregivers the opportunity to enjoy books, songs, puppets, and fingerplays. A simple craft project follows each program. Information: 479-750-8180.
School Aged Program: Tuesday, February 26, 2008
School-age children, ages 6 to 9, are invited to join Ms. Erin for the Library’s After School Program on Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Information: 479-750-8180.
On Tuesday, February 26, children continue their trip back in time to the days of Benjamin Franklin with Ben’s Impact on Today. After reading the book Duck for President by Doreen Cronin and playing the colonial game, ninepins, children will create their own colonial and state flags.
Kite Building Workshop: Saturday, March 8, 2008
Children and teens are invited to the Benjamin Franklin Kite Building Workshop at the Springdale Public Library on Saturday, March 8, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. All participants will make and decorate their own kite to take home!
