Attending Your First Kids Performance at the Walton Arts Center

The family performances at the Walton Arts Center are an excellent way to begin to expose your kids to the arts. Before you go, prepare yourself for lots of kids. I know it sounds ridiculous, considering the shows are geared toward children, after all. But, the atmosphere is completely different from the adult oriented events that you are probably used to seeing. Also, if the performance is in Baum Walker Hall (the main auditorium) choose seats on the sides of the main level, if possible. The balcony is pretty far away from the stage, making it harder for younger kids to keep focused on the show. The side seats are preferable, just in case you have to sneak out during the performance. Finally, bring a bit of cash because they usually sell drinks and snacks before the show and during intermission.
