This is a great way to end the summer — homemade cakes and ice cream and lots of activities for kids of all ages. I hope to see you there!
The Washington County Historical Society’s 38th annual Ice Cream Social will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at Headquarters House, 118 E. Dickson St. in Fayetteville.
Children 6 and under a FREE. $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 6-12, $15 max per family.
Homemade cakes and Hiland Dairy ice cream will be served. Graduates of WCHS’ Heritage School will conduct botany and herb garden tours for children, with a lesson of afternoon tea etiquette in a secret garden. The Community Imagination Studio and YouthCAN! programs will also provide children’s art activities.
Additional events include Headquarters House tours, an antique car display, living history persons, dancing and entertainment by Heritage School students, an oil-painting raffle ticket sales, and WCHS membership opportunities. Local musicians will provide live entertainment, and the Book Store and Gift Shop will offer a 10% discount on all merchandise during the event.
