Reader Recommendation: Dickey Farms Pumpkin Patch
October 28, 2008 | 1 Comment
From a savvy Life+Kids reader. Thanks for the tip!
I found a great pumpkin patch this weekend that is located on the 412 just west of Tontitown. It is called Dickey’s Farms & is much closer to the folks of Washington County than the one in Pea Ridge. My little ones had great fun picking their own pumpkin that was still growing on the vine.
Directions:
Take 412 west toward Siloam Springs. Just after Tontitown, the road divides into a divided highway. Just as it divides there is a road on the left called Musteen. Turn south (left) and follow the dirt road for about 1 mile until it dead ends. Turn right and there is the farm and pumpkin patch. Good prices & lots of fun. Plenty of photo opportunities too!

However, in ancient times nothing is that straightforward. Jason and his crew must sail on The Argo to the other side of the world to find the Golden Fleece and bring it back in order to unite the people again. As if that wasn’t difficult enough, the odd monster, sleeping dragon and clashing rock endeavor to ruin his trip and spice things up on this most fantastic of journeys.

My Dream Music Store
October 8, 2008 | Leave a Comment
If only Arkansas Musicworks was located Fayetteville instead of Bentonville. I could easily imagine myself swinging by after school for music lessons — maybe guitar for my 3rd grader and drums for my 1st grader — both in one location. I would settle in to the comfy lounge where I could relax until the lessons were over. Any music or instruments we needed could be purchased or rented on site. How convenient . . .
Alas, the cool new music store and studios is located in Bentonville, so all you Benton County readers take note. Arkansas Musicworks is a haven for parents who want their children to learn to play a musical instrument (or who want to learn themselves for that matter!).
Arkansas Musicworks is a full service music store that sells and rents instruments (including those for band and orchestra) as well as sheet music and accessories.
The store also includes a row of studios where lessons are conducted in various instruments, including piano, guitar, bass, strings, woodwinds, and drums/percussion. In other words, if your child wants to play a particular instrument, Arkansas Musicworks likely has someone to teach that instrument.
One last thing, the price is in line with other music lessons I have seen –$85/month for a weekly half hour private lesson, regardless of instrument.
So, check out the Arkansas Musicworks website or just drop in. Arkansas Musicworks is located at 1380 SW Westpark Drive, Suite 6 in Bentonville (off SW 14th Street, just west of SW I Street).

Family Events at the Rogers Fall Festival
October 6, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Main Street Rogers’ 4th Annual Fall Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 11th. The four part event will take place in Historic Downtown Rogers near the Frisco Stage, located at 1st and Elm Streets.
DesignWorks invites your family to design a frightful holiday yard decoration at its Build-a-Scarecrow event. The first 200 families who come by Frisco Park between 9am and 1 pm will receive supplies to assemble their own scarecrow. Materials are free, and you are encouraged to bring any creative accessories you like for your scarecrow—hats, shoes, etc. Put it together on site, and take it home with you when you’re finished. Baked goods, coffee, hot chocolate, and hot cider will be for sale, with proceeds donated to Main Street Rogers.
The Rogers Farmers Market will hold their 5th annual Pumpkin Fest from 7am-1pm. They will feature fall decorations, pumpkins, gourds, corn shocks, and crafts as well as the locally grown fresh produce and cut flowers.
You’re back on the farm with the Downtown Hay Ride, offered by Farmers Insurance – McLeod Agency. A trailer piled high with hay bales will pick up passengers at Frisco Stage and take you on a tour of Rogers’ brick-lined downtown streets. Stop by between 9am and 1 pm to enjoy a leisurely free ride and feel the fall breeze on your face.
That new scarecrow will need a few plants to protect it in the front yard this season. Accent your home’s landscaping with fresh flowers from the Fall Plant Sale, hosted by the Main Street Rogers Business Committee. In addition to the quality products already offered in the downtown shops, a variety of mums and pansies will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sale support the Rogers Historic District.
For more information call Main Street Rogers at 936-5487 or visit www.mainstreetrogers.com.

From the Tiny Poses website: We offer an affordable and unique combined dance and yoga class for toddlers and preschoolers. This program will teach the children the basic steps of ballet and tap dance and a curriculum of child’s yoga. Our goal is to teach your child age-appropriate dance and yoga in a relaxed, fun environment.
I love the idea of teaching yoga to children and best of all, the classes are affordable — $6 per child, per class. For more information, visit the Tiny Poses website.
