February 25, 2008 | Leave a Comment
The Ladybacks soccer team at the University of Arkansas has announced the details of their summer Soccer Academy for boys and girls with sessions in Bentonville and Fayetteville.
- June 9-13, 2008 in Bentonville (1/2 and full day) and Fayetteville (evening)
- July 14-18, 2008 in Fayetteville (1/2 and full day)
Both my boys have attended the camp in the past, and will again this year. The camp is lots of fun and very organized – and my boys’ soccer skills definitely improved over the course of the week.
The week-long camps offer half day programs for 4-7 year olds and half and full day options for kids 8-13 years old as well as a college prep academy for older girls.
The early registration deadline is April 12, 2008. Go here for more information on dates and locations. Download a copy of the registration form here.
NOTE: All sessions usually sell out, and you receive a discount for registering before April 12, so register early!

Kindergarten Registration for Fayetteville Public Schools
February 20, 2008 | 1 Comment
Thank goodness for my sister in law. Otherwise, I would have never known that I was supposed to register my son for kindergarten five months before kindergarten started! If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in the Fayetteville Public Schools this fall, here is what you need to know:
- Kindergarten registration for the Fayetteville Public Schools is Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 8:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.
- You will register at your school zone’s elementary school. If you do not know your school zone, check the online zone map here.
- To register, you will need: (1) proof of address (such as a utility bill — not a phone bill); (2) your child’s immunization record; and (3) your child’s social security card or proof of birthday.
- Your child will also need a physical to begin kindergarten, but that can be completed up to 30 days before school starts.
- You can still register your child after kindergarten registration day. However, some school’s kindergarten classes fill up that day, so it is best to register on registration day.
If you wish to enroll your child at one of the approved open enrollment schools, you must still enroll at your home school, and then complete a transfer request.
If you have questions, call your elementary school. You can find the phone numbers here.
More Noodle Doodle Box Fundraiser Information

Here’s a message from my friend, Kassie, who is directing Noodle Doodle Box, TheatreSquared’s upcoming show for young audiences:
We’ve been having a blast in rehearsals! It will still be the intimate 150 seat experience that we had in Jungalbook and Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. There will be carpet squares on the floor for the kids who want to be up close to the action and a post-play discussion and autograph signing with the actors.
I’m also really excited about our lobby! We’re joining creative forces with an amazing woman from the NWA Children’s Museum - Exhibits Committee. She’s working with us to create an interactive lobby experience where young people and families can physically explore themes and show related projects both before and after the show.
With the interactive lobby, the high quality professional production, the youth and family workshops surrounding the performance and the Family Performance Guide in the program (including show research and “car-ride home” discussion questions) - We are creating Theatre for Young Audiences the way I always imagined it could be!.
I hope you will get a chance to bring the kids, spouses, grandparents and neighbors to the show. If you can make it to the show March 1, come to the 4:30pm Family Fundraiser and support TheatreSquared’s education programs. See information below.
TheatreSquared, NWA’s professional theater for both adult and young audiences, invites you to the Noodle Doodle Box Family Fundraiser!
This Carnival/Dinner/Play event is happening Saturday, March 1 at Walton Art Center’s Nadine Baum Studios. At 4:30pm, the Studios will be turned into a carnival atmosphere with cames, crafts and food. Families can enjoy the festivites, have dinner, and meet other families. Then, from 6-7pm, everyone sees an exclusive Noodle Doodle Box performance. Afterwards, families will meet the cast and take a backstage tour. It is a small theater (150 max.) so tickets to the event are limited.
The cost for the event is $25 per person, and includes dinner and tickets to the show. Everything over the ticket cost ($13 a ticket) is tax deductible as a donation to TheatreSquared.
If the entire family can’t make it, don’t worry — it will be a perfect night out with mom or dad for the kids who can be there. It will also be great fun for grandparents and grandkids.
To buy tickets, call TheatreSquared box office at: 479-445-6333
